The muscle and bones stand solid and dynamic, ready to receive and envelope the minutiae, such as weight machines, bicycles, flat-screen TVs, computers, chairs and desks.
With just about three weeks from the opening of the new main YMCA, construction continues, finishing duct-work and adding other touches to the bricks, glass and metal. The new downtown facility, a few blocks from the old one, will open on time, Aug. 1, said YMCA of Tuscaloosa County CEO Ashley Waid, while giving old members and new prospective ones tours of the work in progress.
