Kids are our future! Strengthening our communities and developing our youth are two very important works of the Y. We know that families are on the go today, and because of that, we operate a Child Development Center, providing quality care for your child based on our four values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Here, children learn values and positive behaviors, and can explore their unique talents and interests, helping them realize their potential. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.
We know that nothing matters more than the safety, security and health of your child. That’s why protection and preparedness are critical considerations in everything that we do at the Tuscaloosa YMCA Family Center.
Child Development Center SUMMER Hours:
Monday, Wednesday & Friday 8:15 am – 12:30 pm
Monday-Thursday 3:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Saturday 9:00 am-12:00 pm
The Tuscaloosa YMCA Family Center offers FREE drop-in child care for up to TWO HOURS while you make use of the Y. Parents/Guardians must remain on Y property while children are in the Child Development Center.
Health and Safety
From first aid training for emergency situations to a clean and healthy environment for children, we have the experience to ensure that every child is happy and healthy. You can have confidence that your child is cared for in a secure, nurturing environment every day. And they are having a great time!!
At the CDC, caring and professional role models are committed to helping kids build confidence and character. The loyalty, dedication, and professionalism of our highly trained staff are extraordinary. We count on our staff to meet strict Y qualifications and pass an Alabama State Bureau of Investigation background check. All Y CDC staff are 18 years or older and have been trained and certified in CPR Infant, Child & Adult, AED, and First Aid.
Parents look to the Y for a safe and secure environment where children can learn practical social skills and develop positive values. Our reputation for consistency and safety, as well as our focus on youth development, gives parents the confidence they need to trust us with their children.
To ensure the well-being of each child, we review our health and safety policies on an ongoing basis. Our low staff-to-child ratio also allows our staff to give each child the attention and guidance necessary to create a positive and safe environment.
Child Development staff reserve the right to limit the number of children in the Child Development Center due to ages of children in care, the number of staff on site, and the number of children in the Child Development Center.
