2018 Barnes Branch Summer Camp information coming soon!
The Summer Day Camp at the Benjamin Barnes YMCA has more than 130 children enrolled in the summer-long camp, which starts as soon as the academic year ends and runs until school begins in early August.
The 2016 Summer Camp is from May 31 – August 5. Camp hours are from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Call (205) 759-4284 for details. Here are some of the camp’s highlights:
Swim to the Top Program: For the third year in 2016, campers are given free swimming lessons along with lessons in nutrition, fitness, enrichment and character trait building. There are 35 campers per group with a total of 105 in the program. A literacy and nutrition segment was added to the Swim to the Top Program in 2015.
Y’s Readers Literacy Program: Campers participate in the mentoring reading program to prevent summer reading loss and increase confidence in scholastic basic skills.
Bible Curriculum and Activities: Swimming, field trips, character education, Tumbling Tide Twirling session, tennis lessons, Vacation Bible School, and sports camps. Fields trips include trips to the zoo, as well as to skating rinks and to local, neighborhood parks.
